St Bede's Shave for a Life

St Bede's Shave for a Life

St Bede’s College in Christchurch has been supporting rangatahi impacted by cancer for more than 20 years. This year marked their 21st year of association with CanTeen Aotearoa and in this time they have raised more than a whopping $700,000 for rangatahi impacted by cancer!

In 2022, the school came together for their fundraiser ‘Shave for a Life’, with more than 35 students participating to fundraise and shave their heads in support of rangatahi impacted by cancer across Aotearoa.

The fundraisers have raised more than $15,000!

“CanTeen is an organisation close to our hearts as it supports young people impacted by cancer. Many of our Bedean Community, past and present, have been or are being supported by CanTeen and most of us know someone affected by cancer.” Said St Bede’s College representative.

CanTeen Aotearoa CEO Nick Laing also joined in on the day, getting his head shaved to show support for the St Bede’s fundraisers, CanTeen rangatahi, and all rangatahi impacted by cancer across Aotearoa.

We were also grateful to receive the support of local barbers Surreal Hair, VJ Barbers, and Elvte Barbers on the day, who generously gifted their time and skills to shave the heads of St Bede’s wonderful fundraisers.
