Trip to Poor Knights Island
Just before Christmas, young people impacted by cancer in Northland were able to connect their peers and enjoy a boat trip to Poor Knights Island. When they arrived, snorkeling and swimming were on offer, a great chance to look for wildlife at one of New Zealand’s best diving spots.
The trip not only provided the young people with an opportunity to connect with others who understand what they’re going through, it was a chance to escape the daily struggles of cancer and feel that they can completely relax and enjoy something memorable.
At CanTeen we understand the importance of members feeling like they can act their age and that is exactly what this trip provided. Cancer is a scary word and a lot of jargon and appointments can become overwhelming for anybody; but when this occurs during such a pivotal time in a young person’s life everything can become too much and hard to process.
CanTeen’s mission is to ensure no young person goes through cancer alone, keep an eye on our 2020 events calendar to see when the next event in your area is and see what we get up to!
