Activity Day

15 Aug, 2019

Activity Day

Cancer doesn’t care that young people are in the middle of study, first time jobs and the most formative years of their lives. Cancer derails a young person’s life and can make it difficult to do normal activities.

Our events and activity days provide young people with welcome respite from the daily worries and stresses that cancer brings.

For this trip we were able to enjoy some ice skating at Aotea Square, arcade games and a viewing of the Lion King to top off a perfect day. A big thanks to Event Cinemas Queen Street, GameOn and Paradice Ice Skating for hosting this great day out which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Activity days give young people in the same boat the chance to connect with others who truly understand what living with cancer can be like. Attending these events also reduces isolation and allows young people to act their age and feel normal by attending social activities that become a struggle to make time for when living with cancer.

By offering these recreational activities as well as expert one to one support, young people are equipped with the skills to get their lives back on track after being turned upside down by cancer.
