Silver Fern Maria Tutaia started her netball career playing for
the NZU21 team in 2004, which went on to win the 2005 World Youth
Championships. Later that same year she made her on-court debut for
the Silver Ferns during their tour of Jamaica, and in 2006 was a
member of New Zealand's gold medal-winning team at the Melbourne
Commonwealth Games.
Maria joined the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic in 2008 where she
played for them for two years in the ANZ Championship. The Northern
Mystics will benefit from having Maria as their shooting star in
2010 as she has recently moved to Auckland to be closer to her
family.
This is my third year as a CanTeen ambassador and
it's been a totally humbling experience. It's rewarding to be able
to support my peers who are dealing with a life changing
experience.
