Daniel Carter

Daniel Carter

Dan has been a CanTeen ambassador for three years now and has supported CanTeen each year with a bandanna design. In 2009 Dan featured in the CanTeen Bandanna Challenge TV commercial to challenge New Zealanders to show their support for young people living with cancer.

Daniel Carter has become a true superstar of the rugby world. He is now recognised as one of the best first-fives in world rugby. His modest demeanor off the field is in contrast to his presence on the pitch, where he is already an excellent tactician with the strength of most midfield backs.

He top-scored for New Zealand at the 2002 Under 21 World Cup in South Africa with 72 points and the next season found himself in a Crusaders jersey and then - at the tender age of 21 - was named in All Blacks. Carter was named 2005 IRB Player of the Year, and New Zealand's Player of the Year, after a season punctuated by outstanding performances against the British & Irish Lions in Wellington and Wales in Cardiff.

He possesses a dynamic array of physical and mental skills, including great speed, deceptive strength and a dangerous side-step. Carter is a reliable goal-kicker, an astute tactician and a calm backline general.

CanTeen is a pretty unique organisation with loads of inspirational members. I met a couple a few years back during a hospital visit and saw the awesome work CanTeen does for young people living with cancer. It's the vibe and energy of the CanTeeners that made me want to be a part of and help CanTeen. It's something I'm really proud to literally put my face to!
