A bequest is typically a specific dollar amount, specific
property or assets, or all or a portion of your residual estate
(what remains after all other gifts and debts have been paid). All
bequests are treated with absolute confidence unless you state
otherwise.
A bequest can be included when making a new will or by revising
your existing will by adding a codicil. The suggested wording to
include a bequest or add a codicil can be downloaded here (pdf file,
10kb). Please take the completed statement to your solicitor or
trust company to ensure your intentions are clearly understood.
If you don't currently have a will or would like advice about
the codicil process or other estate matters, please contact Jan
Etwell at Buddle Findlay on 03 379 1747. Jan will help directly or
refer you to a Buddle Findlay expert in your region.
We welcome the opportunity to thank you for this wonderful gift
and would appreciate it if you could advise us of your intentions
using the contact information provided.
