- Do the dishes when its your turn (directed at the patient
siblings!)
- Treat us as an equal

- Give us attention - HUGS
- Talk to us properly
SIBLINGS - Don'ts:
- Forget us
- Assume anything
- Put things in our minds/ Talk about possibilities
- Tell us how to feel
- Presume we are damaged or suicidal because of our situation
- Treat us different
- Blame us
PATIENTS - Do's:
- Still include us
- Love us
- Let us sleep
- Accept who we are
- Give us respect
- Actually look at us
- Understand
- Give us good food
- Give us the best treatment
- Respect our bodies/ Ask before you touch us
- Be clean around us
- Be supportive
- Come and visit us
- Provide good Nurses/Doctors for us
- Talk to us properly
PATIENTS - Don'ts:
- Ask "How are you?"
- Eat in front of us
- Wake us in the middle of the night
- Treat us differently
- Expect us to do schoolwork
- Mock us
- Tell us your problems
- Piss us off when we're on steroids!!
- Force us to eat, shower etc.
- Spread viruses
- Stare at us
BEREAVED SIBLINGS - Do's:
- Ask genuinely if you want to know how
we are
- Understand if we are having a bad day and need space
- Give us presents too
BEREAVED SIBLINGS - Don'ts:
- Ask "How are you?" unless you really mean it
- Push us away
- Forget about us
- Ignore us on the day of the anniversary (of our sibling passing
away)
- 'Fake' around us
- Use words like 'sympathies' and 'condolences' (too cliché!) Only
say it if you mean it
- Overreact
- Try to counsel us - Console us but don't counsel us
