Guy Alexander
President/Auckland and Northland Rep
Hi there, Im Guy Alexander, and am currently the National
President of CanTeen New Zealand.
I've been involved with CanTeen for a number of years. I was
diagnosed with a bone tumor at 13 in my left leg but after almost a
year of chemotherapy and surgery I was given the all clear. One of
the major side effects for me is that I have a hearing impairment
which can sometimes be a pain, however at 22-years-old it
doesn't stop me living life to the max! Originally from the Far
North (Okaihau then Whangarei), I moved to Auckland for University
which is where I was given a massive opportunity to really get
involved in the local branch committee. Currently I work full time
in Business Development within the IT & Telco sector,
previously I owned and operated a small niche telco business which
I later sold to a NZX public company (I was 19 at the time). I am
very proud to be a part of CanTeen and truly believe we do a
fantastic job in supporting young people living with cancer. As a
young person you should be fighting with your parents, not fighting
for your life. I welcome anyone who would like to contact me to
discuss CanTeen further, you'll find me details below. Signing off,
Guy.

Hi I'm Lane Nicol from Southland.
My time at CanTeen has helped me find my more mature and
responsible side and provided me with fantastic growth
opportunities.
Anna Blandford
Central Rep

Hi ya my name is Anna and I'm from the windy Wellington.
I've been involved in CanTeen for a number of years on the
Wellington Committee with time as Vice and President. I've
even been able to show my creative side and design a few CanTeen
Christmas cards and a bandanna. CanTeen is like a
second family to me, filled with inspirational people who
have grown to be my best buddies. I'm now helping to put together
National Camp 2012 and I also sit on the MAC and Board where I
get to be the voice of our members.
I love giving back to CanTeen after all the help I've had over
the years!
Andrew Crocker
Otago
Rep
Hey, I'm Andrew originally from the Hawkes Bay and now a student
at the University of Otago studying Physical Education and
Commerce. I joined CanTeen when I was 13, three years
after my brother was diagnosed. I am 22 years old with a healthy
brother. I've held many positions in CanTeen including most of
the committee positions, NCC (National Camp Committee) and MAC.
Being on the MAC and NCC has given me the opportunity to build my
confidence and skills and to feel like I'm making a difference,
which is awesome. I have just been appointed to the Board and
am very excited about taking up the challenge to the best of my
abilities.
Mark Winstanley
Medical Advisor
I qualified as a doctor in 1995 and went on to specialise in
paediatrics. Six months as a registrar in the Wellington
Paediatric Oncology service inspired me to complete my training in
children's cancer. I trained first at Starship and then
spent several years at BC Childrens' Hospital in Vancouver,
Canada.
While there I worked with some of the world experts in
paediatric sarcoma and I was able to spend nine months in the
adult sarcoma service, where I gained more insight into the
differences for young adult patients. For me this highlighted
the gaps in AYA (Adolescent and Young Adults) services and fuelled
my passion about changing this for the better here in New
Zealand.
I have been back at Starship since 2007 and joined the CanTeen
Board in 2011.
When not at work I spend as much time as possible with my family
- our two gorgeous children and aging dog. When time
allows I am usually out on my bike or training for multisport
events.
David Garb

I am passionate about working with young people to help
facilitate their awareness of choice, creativity, and aliveness
that is available to them. I have spent many years working as a
counsellor, facilitator and trainer and various areas of life and
in a variety of countries. Currently, I am based in Christchurch,
but travel widely for work and relish the role of
facilitator for CanTeen's National Programmes.
Dion Mortensen

not-for-profits.
I originally trained in IT, and have held a variety of senior
management roles with local and international companies,
culminating in two roles as Chief Executive. Over the last
five years, through my role with Movac, I have led or participated
in the investment and development of 13 early stage New Zealand
ventures.
I'm is passionate about working with owners and leaders of New
Zealand businesses with a high aspiration for international
growth.
Simon Lala

As a parent of a survivor of childhood cancer, I have been
involved with CanTeen for over 20 years, primarily as a financial
advisor.
I am a Chartered Accountant in public practice with offices in
Auckland and Wellington and have extensive experience in the
not-for-profit sector. I currently sit on boards in New
Zealand and internationally which specialise in both, young adult
and childhood cancer.
It is a privilege to play a role in the development of CanTeen
to ensure members receive the highest level of support.
John Robson
Child Cancer Foundation Rep
I am the current Chairman of the Child Cancer Foundation and
represent the foundation on the Board of CanTeen. I have two
daughters, aged 10 and 8, and am a Director of a privately owned
software company with the head office in Wellington, and offices in
Auckland and Seattle. I have a background in finance and economics,
and spent over 11 years working in London managing investment funds
for Merrill Lynch Investment Management prior to moving to New
Zealand with my wife in 2002. I am a self-confessed geek,
creator of cartoons, and lover of all technology.
David Pearce
Chief Executive (non-voting)
I've been Chief Executive of CanTeen since 1 Feb 2009. Born in
New Zealand, I've spent most of my career in big business and only
recently 'seeing the light' and moving to not for profit. Better
late than never!
I spent 18 years in senior management positions with the Anglo
Dutch multi national Unilever. After starting in NZ, Unilever later
took me and my family to live in the Philippines, Singapore and
England as well.
My work, primarily in human resources and communication roles,
saw me in many international projects, in over 30 countries, where
I engaged with both senior leadership groups and often, with
younger management trainees; an adventure and a privilege.
Back home in New Zealand since 2002, I happily spent the
last five years with Fonterra, firstly in their consumer
products business and finally, in their Auckland HQ. Three years
ago some fantastic young CanTeeners inspired me. I made one of them
a promise to use my life well. I'm delighted now to work in CanTeen
and make good on that promise.
