Because every diagnosis is different, the type of cancer treatment will depend the type of cancer, the location, the stage of development, the size, and your general health. When all of these factors are taken into account, it is understandable that there is no basic formula to kill cancer cells. It is common for a combination of two or three treatment methods to be part of a treatment plan.

The main goal of chemotherapy and other conventional cancer treatments is to kill the cancer cells and bring about a remission. Remission occurs when there are no signs or symptoms of cancer present. This is where it gets a bit tricky: although remission means an absence of cancer, it is not the same as a cure. Once remission has been achieved the next goal is to remain in remission. The longer remission is maintained, the greater the chance of a 100% cure.
